14 lucky sea lions rush across the sand and into the surf of the Pacific Ocean in Laguna Beach, California.
The animals frolicked joyously in the crashing breakers and salty spray.
Their return comes after months at the Pacific Marine Mammal Rescue Center, where they were taken after being found on the beach near death.
Caring workers nursed them back to health and they were only days away from being released last April, when they had another setback -- someone poisoned their outdoor holding tank with chlorine.
Caregivers set out to nurse the animals back to health again. Now, they see their efforts paying off, says Animal Care Supervisor, Kirsten Sedlick.
"It's nice to know that all of our hard work and our dedication has paid off, and to see them go home, and see them eagerly go home, we couldn't ask for anything better."
The center still has more than 100 sick animals in their facility, waiting for their day to go home.
