Tiểu thuyết đương đại viết cho người lớn đạt được vị trí cao nhất là Birdsong của Sebastian Faulk (thứ 17). Trong khi đó Jane Eyre của Charlotte Bronte nằm thứ 3, Wuthering Heights của chị cô là Emily giữ vị trí thứ 7 và Great Expectations của Charles Dickens thứ 10.

Tác phẩm kinh điển được tái sinh một phần nhờ điện ảnh Lord of the Rings của J.R.R. Tolkien về vị trí thứ hai, chỉ kém Pride and Prejudice. Series truyện hấp dẫn và ăn khách của Rowling - Harry Potter - cũng chiếm được nhiều cảm tình của độc giả khi chễm chệ ở vị trí thứ 4. Xếp ngay sau đó, tác phẩm độc nhất của nữ nhà văn Harper Lee - To Kill a Mockingbird giữ vị trí thứ 5.
